Matthew is currently head of Space Systems Technical Strategy and R&D for the UK based in Portsmouth. Previously he was the UK Advanced Concepts Architect most recently developing a Vast Antenna (VASANT) concept for future high capacity satellite communications.
From 2006 to 2013 he was head of Future Programmes in Science and Planetary Exploration in Stevenage focusing on feasibility phases of missions such as Solar Orbiter, JUICE, Euclid and Mars Sample Return.
Before Airbus Matthew worked for several companies including two SMEs and CGI on Earth observation (EO) applications and geospatial information systems.
Following a degree in geography from Sheffield University in 1981, Matthew started in EO as a lecturer in Applied Remote Sensing at Cranfield University; he moved to the commercial world of EO in 1989.
