Dr Dimitrios Statharas is a Lecturer at the School of Engineering at the University of Leicester

Dr Statharas graduated in 2008 from the Technical Educational Institute of Piraeus (currently known as University of West Attica) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and then proceeded for an MSc degree in Advanced Industrial Manufacturing Systems from Kingston University in London. In 2018 he completed his PhD thesis at the University of Leicester focusing on assessing the hot-cracking susceptibility of materials during welding. In 2019 he worked, as a Research Associate at the University of Leicester, on an Innovate UK project for the development and upscaling of nanocomposite coatings using novel electroplating methods. Since 2020 Dr Statharas has been a Lecturer at the University of Leicester.
