UK Space Agency support enables new funding opportunities for research projects

NEWS: New funding opportunities for research projects

New funding opportunities through mini-innovation vouchers, and residential and sandpit events

In late 2021, the UK Space Agency extended its support for SPRINT with an additional £200,000 of funding that will support collaborations with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and extend reach to all UK HEIs.

This will increase the collaborative opportunities for UK space-related businesses to work with academic experts and create high value partnerships, supporting the development of the UK space sector and the growth of the UK economy.

The additional funds provided by the UK Space Agency will allow UK HEIs to actively engage with the SPRINT programme and benefit from the funded collaborations with industry partners that SPRINT can provide.

The funding will support the delivery of a number of engagement events and a grant call. The aim of these, is to showcase the support that SPRINT can provide to SMEs and how this can build longer-term partnerships that result in sustainable collaborations for investing in the future of the UK space sector.

The following funding opportunities will shortly be available:

Mini Innovation Vouchers
Smaller, short-term catalytic grants that are designed to initiate collaborations looking at commercial applications of research e.g. to complete a market assessment and commercialisation plan for a proposed technology, or to accelerate the route to market of existing intellectual property.

The call will launch on 28 February 2022 and details will be available at www.sprint.ac.uk
